One Campus, Every Sport

The Sports Development Foundation envisions a national multi-sport complex in Portmore, St. Catherine โ€” a facility where athletes from every discipline can train, recover, and compete without leaving the island. Jamaica produces world-beating talent, but too many of our athletes must travel overseas for proper training facilities. That ends here.

The Complex

Phase 1, funded by this campaign, includes: an 8-lane Olympic-standard swimming pool, a 6-court indoor netball and basketball arena, a boxing gym with 4 rings, a strength and conditioning centre, sports medicine and physiotherapy suites, and athlete dormitories for 60 residents.

Future Phases

Phase 2 will add a 400m synthetic athletics track, tennis courts, and a cricket practice facility. Phase 3 will include a sports science laboratory and a regional sports museum. But Phase 1 is the foundation โ€” literally and figuratively.

Why Portmore?

Portmore is Jamaica's fastest-growing city, home to over 200,000 people and hundreds of active sporting clubs. It is 20 minutes from Kingston, close to the Norman Manley International Airport, and has available government land earmarked for sports development. The location makes the complex accessible to athletes island-wide.

Risks & challenges

Large-scale construction projects carry inherent risks: material cost inflation, labour shortages, and weather delays. We have engaged a Jamaican construction firm with experience in sports facilities, locked in material prices through forward contracts, and built a 6-month weather buffer into the timeline. The SDF has secured matching funds from the Government of Jamaica contingent on this campaign reaching its goal.

This campaign offers open donations โ€” no reward tiers.

Government Matching Funds Confirmed โ€” J$15M on the Table 14 April 2026

The Minister of Sports has officially confirmed that the Government of Jamaica will match our crowdfunding total dollar-for-dollar, up to J$15 million, once we hit our campaign goal. That means if we raise J$15 million, we start with J$30 million in total funding. We are at J$13.8 million with 2 days to go. Jamaica, we need one final push. This is bigger than any one sport โ€” this is for ALL our athletes.

The government matching is huge! If every Jamaican at home and abroad gave even J$500, we would smash through the goal. Shared with my whole family in Florida and London.
